The presidency of Dilma Rousseff began on 1 January with Dilma Vana Rousseff's inauguration as president after defeating PSDB candidate José Serra in the elections, and ended with her impeachment on 31 August , already in her second term.^[1][2][3][4]

Dilma Rousseff presidential campaign was supported by the center-left electoral coalitionPara o Brasil Seguir Mudando (English: For Brazil to Keep on Changing), created by the Workers' Party (PT) to run in Brazil's general election. It included ten parties: PT, PMDB, PCdoB, PDT, PRB, PR, PSB, PSC, PTC and PTN. On 14 October, the PP unofficially joined the coalition.
