Indian economist (born 1953)
Narendra Damodar Jadhav (born 28 May 1953) is an Indian economist, educationist, public policy specialist, professor and writer in English, Marathi and Hindi.[1]
Jadhav has been a Member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Indian Parliament. He previously served as member of the Planning Commission of India and the National Advisory Council. Prior to this, he worked as Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and headed economic research at the Reserve Bank of India.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Narendra Damodar Jadhav was born on 28 May 1953 to a Mahar family from the village of Ozar (Nashik District) and grew up in Mumbai suburb of Wadala.[3] In 1956, his family converted to Buddhism.[4] He attended Chhabildas High School, Dadar. Narendra Jadhav, a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha, Nominated) is an Economist, Educationist, Administrator and Author in English, Marathi and Hindi.
Holding a doctorate in Economics from Indiana University, USA, Dr Jadhav has earlier served in several distinguished positions including Member–Planning Commission, Member–National Advisory Council, Vice–Chancellor of the S.P. Pune University and Chief Economist, Reserve Bank of India.
Narendra Jadhav is currently serving, on honorary basis, as Distinguished Professor, Council for Social Development (CSD) in New Delhi and as Professor Emeritus at MIT School of Government, Pune. He has appointed as the Chairman, Advisory Committee on RBI History: Volume V (1977-2007).
Dr. Narendra Jadhav has written or edited 37 books including 12 books on Dr Ambedkar - six each in English (Konark Publishers, New Delhi, 2013) and Marathi (Granthali, 2012, 13) - comprising an intellectual bio
