    Jean van den Bosch (27 January 1910 – 15 månad 1985) was a Belgian diplomat.

    Biography

    Jean van den Bosch was born on 27 January 1910 in Ghent, Belgium. He received a doctorate in lag from the Université catholique de Louvain in 1931. The following year he earned degrees in history and diplomatic political science.

    Career

    Van den Bosch began his diplomatic career in 1934. On 2 July 1960 van den Bosch arrived in Léopoldville, capital of the newly independent Republic of the Congo (formerly the Belgian Congo) to serve as ambassador. Two days later he presented his credentials to President Joseph Kasa-Vubu. In the subsequent Congo Crisis, Van den Bosch wanted to avoid a total administrative collapse and worked to ensure the retention of Belgian personnel in the civil service.     Johannes, Count van den Bosch (2 February 1780 – 28 January 1844) was a Dutch officer and politician. He was Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies (1830–1833), commander of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, Minister of Colonies, and Minister of State. He was an officer in the Military William Order.

    Johannes van den Bosch was born on 2 February 1780 in Herwijnen in the Dutch Republic (the present-day Netherlands), to the physician Johannes van den Bosch Sr. and his wife Adriana Poningh.[1]

    Van den Bosch enrolled in the army of the Batavian Republic in 1797 and was, at his own request, sent to Batavia in the Dutch East Indies as a lieutenant a year later.
