    Never another podcast episode or article 

    “Wait… did I miss something? Why is there an article about a bass podcast on Six Pixels of Separation?”

    Here’s why:
    In the late nineties my first job was as a music journalist (actually, my first interview was with Tommy Lee from Motley Crue right before the band released Dr. Feelgood).
    I spent many years interviewing musicians and artists for local weekly alternative newspapers, national and international magazines (and even published three music magazines – before we had the Internet).
    I also studied and played the electric bass (in high school and post-secondary) and always felt like bass players never really had a chance to tell their stories.
    So, about ten years ago, Seth Godin introduced me to Corey Brown (founder of No Treble – one of the world’s biggest bass platforms – and he also worked on Squidoo with Seth).

    SICK PUPPIES are one of my favorite bands. That’s not exactly news and I was like a kid in a candy store last time they came through Dallas. Fast forward to now, and the REVOLVER Hottest Chicks In Hard Rock Tour is in full swing featuring as headliners none other than SICK PUPPIES. I was lucky enough to get on the phone recently with bassist/vocalist Emma Anzai and she was kind enough to put up with my fanboying (it’s a word!) long enough to answer some questions about new album Connect and their plans for 2014 and beyond.     Interview with Emma Anzai: Bass Player for Sick Puppies

    The rock grupp Sick Puppies hails from Australia and took a chance when they moved to Los Angeles in 2006. That chance paid off as they quickly rose to fame with their “Free Hugs” film featuring their single “All the Same” on YouTube that has garnered them over 74,000,000 views. The band members are Shimon (Shim) Moore (lead vocals, guitar), Emma Anzai (bass, backing vocals) and Mark Goodwin (drums, percussion, backing vocals).

    With two previous albums under their belt, Dressed Up as Life and Tripolar, their most recent album, Connect, was released on July 16, 2013 by Capitol Records and hit #17 the week following its release, making it the best debut album bygd the grupp in their career.
