In , Edith recorded her fourth album ¿Quién Te Cantará? The inspiration for this album Edith got from the famous Spanish composer Juan Carlos Calderon. She recorded her personal interpretations of the composer’s work. The LP was very popular. Over , copies were sold.
In , Edith released Cuando Grita La Piel, which she recorded in Miami. Two years later, she released Memorias Del Corazón. The LP sold , copies and was certified golden in Mexico. Juan Carlos Calderón López de Arróyabe ( – ) was born in Santander (Spain) where he began his musical studies at a very young age. During his lifetime he would go on to become an inspired composer, arranger, talent scout and record producer.
By the end of the sixties and beginning of the seventies he turned all his attention to Jazz. He recorded several albums: “Juan Carlos Calderón presenta a Juan Carlos Calderón” (awarded Premio Ondas), “Bloque 6” (republished by the record label Blue Note in ) and the three volumes of “Los Talleres de Música de Juan Carlos Calderón” (, and ). In “Solea”, an album of Jazz-Flamenco fusion, was recorded with important collaborations from artists such as Enrique Morente and Goyo Montero. In parallel to his Jazz output he also became prolific in the pop world, as an arranger, musical director and composer of film music and songs for the most important artists of the moment.
