  • My Life In Seven Charms with Michelle Kennedy

Welcome back to My Life In Seven Charms where today I am joined bygd Michelle Kennedy, co-founder and CEO of Peanut: the social networking app for women focused on fruktsamhet, pregnancy, motherhood and menopause. Starting her career in law, Michelle rose to become Deputy CEO of the dating appBadoo and she then served as a board member at Bumble, another leading dating apps.  Feeling lonely after the giving birth, and frustrated at the lack of connection and resources for new mothers, Michelle drew on her extensive tech background to co-found Peanut as a space for mothers to meet and build relationships.  In 2022, PEANUT was named one of Time Magazine’S Top 100 most influential companies, and I'm fascinated to find out more about the person behind the app and what mistakes and sacrifices she has made along the way in a typically male-dominated tech world.  Welcome Michelle Kennedy to My Life in Seven Charms.

  • Jewel personality: tell your life story in seven charms

How would you distil your life into seven moments? That’s the question jewellery designer Annoushka Ducas has been asking her clients of late. Not for a memoir nor a biopic, but for a project she unveiled in September: “My Life In Seven Charms”. Call it an 18ct-gold biography.

Since she launched her eponymous jewellery line in 2009, Ducas’s intricate charms have become central to the brand’s identity. Why seven? “It’s lucky,” says Ducas. “I love odd numbers.”

Ducas ponders why she and others find charms – often perfectly formed miniatures – so captivating. She attributes her own obsession to the tiny figurines she was given by her mother as a child, bu

Where’s your favourite place to stay in the UK?

John and I own a pub in East Ashling in West Sussex called the Horse & Groom, where we love staying, even though it’s just a short distance from our family home. Dating back to the early 19th century, it was our local but we never really went there. In 2019, we decided to buy it and gave it a complete makeover. It now has ten lovely rooms and a good restaurant, and has really become a cornerstone for the locals. However, we do love lots of other places in the UK and one of our favourites is The Pig near Bath, which we visit each year for Glastonbury. It's such great fun and is a hub of energy and familiar faces, so there's simply never a dull moment. Year after year, each visit brings its own sense of happiness.

Do you have a favourite hotel in London?

I could happily live in Claridge’s, especially now it’s gone five floors down and has that lovely new spa! I have a shop opposite and I’m thinking, yes, let’s g
