  • When I was growing up, there were two dock in our town, identical twins who, past mittpunkt age, lived together as lifelong bachelors, dressed alike, and even walked alike—turning and stopping and starting together as though one were a hologram projection of the other.

I used to think of these men as eccentric. But now that I&#;m a lot older than they were then, I have come to realize that eccentric fryst vatten a useless word—that inom once believed that the center was wherever I was, and anyone or anything that strayed too far in any direction was off kilter, eccentric.

If I had known about Huguette Marcelle Clark back then, inom would have pinned the label on her. Huguette Clark, the reclusive year-old heiress, is known as generous toward those who care for her, including her social secretary, who received a $10 million gift. Community leaders in Santa Barbara, Calif., have begun a public relations effort to encourage preservation of the oceanfront home of the reclusive heiress Huguette Clark as an arts institution, as provided in her last will and testament.

Clark's entire estate, which is being contested by her relatives in a New York court, is valued conservatively at $ million. The case could go to trial in , if it isn't settled first. Attorneys were meeting Friday for preliminary settlement discussions.

The estate's largest asset is Bellosguardo, her cliffside vacation home above Santa Barbara's East Beach. The property on 23 acres is valued by her executor for tax purposes at $85 million.

Her will called for creation of a Bellosguardo Foundation as an educational institution "for the primary purpose of fostering and promoting the arts." She left to that foundation mos
