    Amir Sjarifuddin Harahap (EVO: Amir Sjarifoeddin Harahap; 27 April &#;– 19 December ) was an Indonesian politician and journalist who served as the second prime minister of Indonesia from until A major leader of the left wing during the Indonesian National Revolution, he previously served as Minister of Information from until and Minister of Defense from until Amir was born into the Sumatranaristocracy and was educated at Leiden University. At Leiden, he became a member of the board of the Gymnasium student association in Haarlem and was involved in the Batak student organization Jong Batak. He returned to Indonesia due to family troubles but continued his education at the Rechts Hogeschool in Batavia.

  • Amir Sjarifuddin Harahap, also spelled Amir Sjarifoeddin Harahap (27 April &#; 19 December ) was a socialist politician and one of the Indonesian Republic's first leaders, becoming Prime Minister during the country's National Revolution.[1] A Christian convert from a MuslimBatak family, Amir was a major leader of the Left during the Revolution. He was executed in by Indonesian Republican officers following his involvement in a Communist revolt.
